Major General Robert Macon meets Russian

This is an original US Signal Corps photo of the 83rd Infantry Division. Major General Robert C. Macon received a bouquet of tulips from a pretty Russian WAC while the Russian Colonel Alexis Ivanov, commander of the elite Sixth Red Guards Division, smiled his aproval. Nudersdorf, Germany on May 1, 1945. A similar picture, taken by M/Sgt Harry Brouhard of the 83rd Infantry Division, was published in the Thunderbolt Newspaper of May 5, 1945.
